Winslow-Rice-Jafri-Greenstein Model

Discussion

The model has tried to analyze the influence of voltage-dependent calcium (Ca2+)-independent transient current (Ito1) on the action potential duration (APD) in normal vs failing canine and human cardiac myocytes. It also takes the influence of the Kv4.3 encoded current (IKv4.3). The results show strong coupling between L-type Ca2+ current and IKv4.3, and predict a bimodal relationship between IKv4.3 density and APD. Also, perturbations in IKv4.3 density may produce either prolongation or shortening of APD depending on the baseline Ito1 current level.

The limitation of this model is Na+ current does not balance (there is no mass balance).
