SIMVOL

Two organ model recirculating system with shunt. Has separate three region compartmental exchange (CTEX) and blood tissue exchange (BTEX).

Model number: 0251

Run Model:
    Help running a JSim model.
(Java model applet may take 10-20 seconds to load.)

Description

Two organ model with with each organ broken into two parts: a three compartment organ
tissue exchange (CTEX) and a three region axially distributed blood tissue exchange (BTEX).
The CTEX is modeled using n number of serial stirred tanks. A shunt is used to change
the distribution of the recirculating flow within the system. The effect of material clearance
from organs can be calculated. See notes page for some simple examples that illustrate the model.

Equations

The equations for this model may be viewed by running the JSim model applet and clicking on the Source tab at the bottom left of JSim's Run Time graphical user interface. The equations are written in JSim's Mathematical Modeling Language (MML). See the Introduction to MML and the MML Reference Manual. Additional documentation for MML can be found by using the search option at the Physiome home page.
